Edible Wedding Centerpiece Displays

Jeanette Shinn asked:

People tend to relax and talk more around food than just about anything else. That is huge advantage of edible wedding centerpiece displays. With the warm and engaging nature of food it is just natural for people to relax and talk when one of the most basic human needs is provided for abundantly. It is human nature, and a wise bride will look for every advantage to help her plan her big day. She could rely on the wedding dinner to provide the warmth and reassurance of food, but why not take advantage from the moment the guests enter the reception with edible centerpieces?

Who doesn’t relax at the smell of fresh bread? Who can resist the mouth watering allure of a tantalizing treat? By making use of edible centerpiece displays a bride is building her decor on more than just a visual level. By adding taste, smell, and touch she creates an emotionally warm and welcoming effect for each of her guests.

Dig in. There is nothing more inviting than the warmth and comfort of food, which makes edible centerpieces a natural for wedding receptions:

Cookie Bouquets: Many pastry chefs will be delighted to craft large ‘cookies on a stick’ and a skilled craftsman can decorate them in some pretty remarkable ways. Either have them arrange the cookies in bouquets for the reception coordinator to place on your tables or it can easily be done by an enterprising bridal party. This is not the least expensive way to go and it probably will not fit an elegant reception, but it can be a lot of fun, quite tasty, and provide the mothers with small children an easy way to keep their little ones happy.

Chilled Wine: Serving wine? A tasteful wine bucket with a nice bottle of wine can make a centerpiece that is attractive and functional. If the cost of a wine bucket is too steep, someone with a bit of crafty know how could use something along the lines of plastic ice cream buckets wrapped in waterproof decorative gift wrap to create an inexpensive, disposable version. Accent the centerpiece with wine themed wedding favors to further the theme and express love and gratitude at the same time.

Hot Bread: Have a basket of fresh baked bread placed on the table just before the guests enter. Who is not warmed and set at ease by the sight and smell of hot fresh bread?

Cheese Board: Arrange a cheese board with your favorite cheese, crackers, and fresh fruit at the center of each table.

Tower of Truffles: For someone with a loved one who is a wizard in the kitchen this is a natural way to get them involved if you choose not to purchase your truffles from your favorite chocolate manufacturer. Either way, a display of truffles is a delightfully inviting centerpiece for a wedding reception - just do not forget to supply decorative favor packaging (you can easily find packaging to fit nearly any decor) for your guests to take a few home to enjoy afterwards!

There are so many possibilities. Have fun with it. Mix and match. There is no right or wrong when it comes to mouth watering edible centerpiece ideas for your reception tables, only what works within the framework of the theme and fashion you are trying to accomplish for your wedding.

Visit Pasadena California

David Hallstrom asked:

No one thinks about the city of Pasadena, California, unless it is Rose Bowl or Rose Parade time, except for Los Angeles County residents and people who hear the song “Little Old Lady From Pasadena”.

When tourists think about visiting California they most often think about going to Disneyland or cities like Los Angeles and San Francisco or beach cities like Long Beach, Monterey, Newport Beach, San Diego, Santa Monica, etc.. Very few of them think about visiting or staying in “small town” Pasadena and that is a big mistake.

No matter what you are looking for in a vacation or what you wish to do you can find it in or near Pasadena. The city itself has over four hundred (400) restaurants that serve amost any type of food that you can imagine, dozens of art galleries and antique shops, fine museums like the Huntington Library and the Norton Simon Museum of Art, hotels of all categories from inexpensive motels to the Ritz Carlton, night clubs and comedy clubs, beautiful homes with magnificent gardens that can be seen while driving through the city, over two hundred (200) churches, shopping galore and much more.

Mountains, ski resorts, beaches and the desert as well as Disneyland, Knotts Berry Farm, Magic Mountain, The Aquarium Of The Sea, the Getty Museum, etc. are all within a one half to one hour drive. Visit Hollywood or Beverly Hills. Downtown Los Angeles is only nine freeway miles from downtown Pasadena. Visit the Arboretum, the Botanical Gardens or the Los Angeles Zoo. Take in a Dodger, Lakers, Clippers, Kings or Galexy game (all venues are less than fifteen (15) miles from Pasadena). Take in a horse race at Santa Anita, go to one of California’s largest swap meets at the Rose Bowl or just sit in an outdoor restaurant in Pasadena’s famous “Old Town” and people watch.

Visiting the Bruce Lee Grave

Ella S. asked:

One of the things you have to see when you go visit Seattle is Bruce Lee’s grave. A lot of people don’t know that Bruce Lee is buried in a cemetery just outside the city. He’s buried there alongside his son Brandon.

I’ve been to the cemetery a couple of times, and each time I go, there have been people there paying there respects. It is probably the most visited couple of graves there in Seattle.

One interesting thing about the grave site is that the grass around there has to be replaced a few times a year because there is so much foot traffic and people visiting the grave. Last time I visited, there was a family from New Zealand there sitting under a tree right next to the grave.

It can be a little tough to try and find the grave initially, but if you get headed in the right direction, you should be able to find it.

First of all, the cemetery is located at the following address:
Lakeview Cemetery
1554 15th. Ave. E.
Seattle, WA

It’s actually located a couple of miles northeast of downtown Seattle. Once you turn into the cemetery, head up the hill towards the flagpole. The graves are located just northeast of the flagpole. You’ll most likely see another car or people sitting nearby and you can pretty much be sure that Bruce Lee’s grave is right there.

There is a great view from the site and so you’ll want to make sure that you take your camera.

One thing you might want to make a note of while you’re there is that at the edge of the roundabout there by the site is the Arthur Denny family gravesite. Arthur Denny was actually one of the founding fathers of Seattle.

All in all, if you grew up watching Bruce Lee movies like I did, then visiting the gravesite is a nice afternoon activity.

Jimmy Sturo asked:

Display cases lend a neat and inviting look to a bakery. They highlight all of the tasty treats that a bakery offers. Bakery display cases are made of welded steel, aluminum or other metal frames. The metal body is usually melded with glass and acrylic. The cases are transparent and may be lightly shaded to allow a customer a clear view of all the delicious pies, cookies, cupcakes, etc.

Most pastry display cases are custom made to order, because different shops sell different bakery products and have different needs. A number of cases have special top shelf lights that help highlight the best items delectable items in the bakery. Some bakery owners add small, mountable wall cases if their floor space is limited. Larger items like cakes and breads fit nicely into these wall mountings.

In order to increase the impact of bakery display cases, they are connected with light fittings. This could include vertical front lights and interior lights that are available with safety shields. A number of these cases are fitted with brown bulbs. This provides a warm and golden tint to bakery products and is commonly used in a large number of bakeries.

Depending upon requirements, people may opt for refrigerated or non-refrigerated bakery display cases. A number of these cases are available with matching trays to display products. Some cases are designed with built-in tissue dispensers. These cases have sliding or hinge doors that are airtight and prevent moisture from collecting and helps maintain temperatures. This is an absolute necessity to retain freshness of bakery products.

Got China? Get a China Hutch to Display It

Jane Worthington asked:

Fine dining ware is very expensive and replacing it is never fun! That is why you need a china hutch to display it safely and to the best advantage. A buffet hutch is a great way to protect your delicate dishes while putting it out there for others to view. Hutches are strong, sturdy and perfect for protecting anything that is valuable. They come in many shapes and sizes and are perfect for any home. Using your heirloom dishes is a great way to entertain your guests on special occasions or on holidays. You obviously do not want to use it on an everyday basis, and for those days when you are not using your fine dining ware, a buffet hutch is the perfect place to store it. Displaying your fancy plates and bowls is a way to show people your personal sense of style and décor. Your friends and family will feel special when they see that you have taken out your fine dishware for them to dine on.

A china hutch is perfect for storing anything that is of value, not just your nice dishes. You can store your figurines or other collectibles in your buffet hutch, ensuring their safety. There are several types of hutches as well. You do not have to have a buffet hutch that openly displays everything, because you can opt for a closed door model that protects your heirloom dishes from prying eyes.

Hutches vary in height, weight, and style. You do not need a grand buffet hutch to display your fine dining ware: You could get a small compact corner hutch that doesn’t take up your entire dining room. If however, your dining room is large and in need of some furniture to take up space, then perhaps a larger display is just what you are looking for. A buffet hutch does not have to be the centerpiece of your dining room, if you would rather have it be an accent piece. If you do want your china hutch to be the centerpiece, then bigger is always better. Of course, there are the beautiful dishes themselves as the main attraction, so make sure they are properly and safely displayed on your hutch. You would not want to accidentally break or chip any of your pieces!

Trade Show Displays - The Differences Between Hanging and Pop-Up Displays

Amy Nutt asked:

The type of display you use for your trade show booth is something that is going to make a difference in how you do business. The idea is to stand out and be unique amongst the rest, so you must figure out which kind of display is going to be the one to fit you best. Two of the displays you may find that you have to choose from are hanging displays and pop-up displays. Each may look the same as each other, but the truth is that they are very different. It is important that you know those differences so that you can make an informed decision regarding which you should use.

Hanging displays

Hanging displays are rather true to their name. They actually hang over top of your trade show booth. They also make for a great attention grabber because they can be seen from far distances. You don’t have to have one of those booths that aren’t seen until the individual is standing right upon it. They can see it from across the way and make a beeline for your booth.

The downfall is that these work best at trade shows that are conducted within an arena or a convention center. That way the trade show booth owner has a ceiling to hang the display from. If the show is outside, then there is nothing to hang it from unless you build an incredibly tall pole that allows you to hang the display. It is then that you’re putting your display up against such elements as wind and rain. You would also have to transport the pole and building such a contraption could prove to be expensive because you would have to somehow make it compact for transport. That might be why you never see hanging displays at outside trade shows.

Pop-up displays

Pop-up displays are different from hanging displays in that they don’t hang. They come in a number of sizes and materials. Display assembly is quite easy because the frame is built to simply pop-up. An example of a unique pop-up is one that is 20 feet long and 8 feet high. It sits on the ground and actually has a wave shape to it. This makes it unique compared to pop-ups that may be one simple curve and sits upon a tabletop. However, tabletop pop-up displays are also great to showcase items you may have. You can also place lighting above the pop-up to enhance your display. Any type of lighting is going to make a difference and pop-up displays allow for that.

Another great thing about pop-up displays is the fact that they can be used both indoors and outdoors. That way you don’t have to fret if your next trade show is going to be outside. You can still use your pop-up display to bring attention to your booth.

Maximizing your presence

You can maximize your trade show presence by using one or both of these display types. If you’re having an indoor trade show, you can use your hanging display and your pop-up display. If you find you’re going to be outside, then you can just use your pop-up display. Both are very effective in bringing a crowd to your booth and you’ll find that you’ll earn a return on your investment because of the ability of these tools to attract a crowd to your booth. Just remember that you have to spend money to make money and that purchasing the right trade show displays is one of those instances. Just make sure you look around and see how much more business you are achieving against those who do not employ any type of display.

Display Your Children’s Photos During Divorce Settlement Work

Mary Wollard asked:

Whether you are working with an attorney, a mediator, or on your own, a divorce settlement can be an emotional and overwhelming experience. It’s easy to get so caught up in how the details of a settlement will affect you, that you forget about how they will affect your children.

An easy way to assure that your children remain the main focus of all your divorce work is to bring photos of the children to your discussions. Find photos that show the children with each of the parents; photos that show them laughing or playing. When you get bogged down or frustrated with the small details of an agreement, it can help to take time out to look at these photos and refocus.

It is especially important to keep your children in mind when working on the parenting plan. When you’re thinking about where the children will live and how much time they will spend with each parent, look at the photos and think about how these decisions will affect the children. If you are working together amicably, the photos will help you keep that up. If you are arguing over something, looking at the photos will help you keep the issues in perspective.

Having photos of your children at the table also helps you to hear yourself though their ears. Would you say what you’re saying if your children were in the room? If not, it’s time to make an adjustment.

When you’re working on your divorce settlement and parenting plan, remember that your children love both of you. Use photos of the children to honor that love throughout this difficult process.

Jewelry Display Tips - 10 Successful and Profitable Ways to Display Handcrafted Jewelry

Filed under: Shopping And Product Reviews — Tags: , , — admin @ 6:56 am
Jacqui Geary asked:

Since starting my handcrafted jewelry business , I’ve displayed my items at many craft shows, fairs, festivals, home jewelry parties, etc. I often have a show two or three days a week. I have picked up many display ideas along the way. I have, also, had other vendors incorporate my ideas into their own displays.

One of the most important things to remember, is that you want your display to be appealing to the customer. Your jewelry or craft may be beautiful, however, that won’t matter if the display doesn’t look enticing enough for the potential customer to come take a look.

When it comes to jewelry, I find organization of items is very important. I have seen displays in which other jewelry designers have no particular organization in there presentation. That is their choice. I have had MANY customers comment on how much easier and quicker it is to find what they’re looking for when a display is organized.

Here are some tips and ideas for displaying jewelry items:

TIP #1:

-Display jewelry sets together. For instance, I display my chakra jewelry together on one mirror.

TIP #2:

- Display jewelry pieces for each category (ex. necklaces, bracelets, earrings, etc.) in the same general area. It will be easier for your customers to locate specific items.

TIP #3:

- Organize bracelets by style, gemstone, color, etc. Whatever seems best for you. I separate my bracelet displays by gemstones. For example: I may have quartz, jade and carnelian bracelets on one display, my awareness bracelets on another, and so on.

TIP #4:

- Earring displays are personal preference. I have seen some designers display their earrings on hanging displays without an earring card, some prefer to hang them on a board display or earring rack, others use a rotating display. I use a rotating earring rack, as it takes up less space and I am able to display over 100 pairs of earrings. I use black flock earring cards to hang my earrings on and I include rubber earring backs with my earrings. This helps to keep the earrings in place on the card and offers the customer an added bonus to the earrings .

TIP #5:

-Be creative when displaying your jewelry pieces. I use black velvet and white leatherette jewelry displays, beveled mirrors and wire jewelry holders. Mirrors are a great way to display your jewelry-they are simple, inexpensive and elegant! I use them to display my featured pieces and jewelry sets. Beveled mirrors can be purchased in a variety of sizes at your local craft store or jewelry supplier.

TIP #6:

- It is not recommended to use flat displays. A lot of shows will not accept a vendor if they have a flat table display. It’s just not attractive! It is also recommended to have more than one tier in your display. I use the shelf from an old computer desk. I cover it with a piece of black velvet material and sit it on the back center of my table. It is perfect for displaying my business sign, a few necklace stands and smaller pieces of jewelry.

TIP #7:

-Cover your table! What colors you choose are up to you. However, if you choose a pattern that is too “busy”, it may take away from your jewelry. I use black tablecloths when displaying my jewelry. To accent the black color, I use runners or large fabric table napkins in the colors of the season. I’ll use rust colors in the fall, red and green in the winter..you get the idea. I also, display inexpensive “props” on my table. I use small wood pumpkins, small candles, clip on ornaments, etc. Make your table appealing to the buyer!

TIP #8:

- Include a business card display on your table. This will promote your business and lead to repeat customers.

TIP#9:

-Make signs. I use tent cards to make it easier for customers to find what they’re looking for. I design my own tent cards on the computer using tent card sheets or card stock. I then cut them to the size I want. I label each of my categories with a tent card. For example: “Awareness Bracelets”,”Men’s Jewelry”,”Children’s Jewelry”, “Anklets”. I also make tent cards labeled with my services. For example: “Custom Orders Available”, “Host a Jewelry Party”, “Bracelet Lengths Can be Adjusted”.

TIP #10

-Make sure you have a business sign. Promote, promote, promote! Make or purchase a sign with your business name, logo and/or description. I have an 8″ x 10″ sign on my table display ( I designed and printed my own sign out on the computer and put it into a picture frame) and I also have a vinyl sign that hangs in front of my table. If you’re interested in a vinyl sign, you can make your own using a vinyl sign kit (available in craft stores) or you can purchase one from a sign company.

It’s best to make your display neat and professional, and let your personality reflect on it.

An attractive display will be far more appealing to potential customers. Be creative!

Make A Room Divider With Photo Display

Tim Lee asked:

Some people keep asking themselves whether it is actually possible to build your own photo room divider. The answer to that would be “yes”. In fact, doing so will help you save a lot of money, and who doesn’t like the idea of that, right?

One thing you will need is a frame for the room divider. You can make use of your old ones or you can try building it yourself. The frame, of course, is necessary only if you are planning to make a standing photo room divider. The next thing you ought to get is some corkboard, roughly in the same dimensions as you want your folding room divider to be. Of course, you will also need some glue and some map pins.

What you need to do to make a photo room divider is to attach the corkboard to the frame. After that, you are actually pretty much done. The great thing about this homemade photo room divider is the fact that it offers a lot more in terms of customizability.

Unlike other types of photo room dividers which require you to place your photographs inside specific pockets, this homemade photo room divider actually allows you to pin your photographs anywhere along the main body of the board.

When you design your homemade photo room divider, you can do so using various cutouts or printouts. You might want to make sure that the photo room divider is decorated with a specific design in mind. Otherwise, things are just bound to get chaotic.

A great idea you can use would be creating a mosaic on the photo room divider. This will give you both the freedom to truly express yourself and the organization which will help you make sure that your self-expression is done in a context which other people may be able to appreciate.

As you can see it is actually quite easy to make your own photo room divider. However, some people may not have the skills or the resources needed to complete this little project. In cases like this, you might just have to settle for buying your photo room divider commercially. It might not be as fun, but it’s better than nothing.
